Sandra Boffi, instructor for Spanish for Grown–UpsSandra Boffi
Sandra Boffi is our primary hands–on teacher. She is a credentialed, native Spanish-speaking professional teacher. See her qualifications below.
Riccardo Accurso
Riccardo sets the agenda for the Spanish classes according to insights gained by his practical and formal experience in academics and learning Spanish and teaching English in Spain.
Riccardo has lived in Spanish-speaking countries for considerable periods of time — in Spain for three years teaching English, and in Mexico over a period of twenty years or so, preparing notes for a book that he self–published in 1980 titled Practical Spanish: A Simplified Approach. Riccardo has been living in Argentina about six months a year for the past six years.
On the formal side, Riccardo studied psycholinguistics and linguistics at the University of Illinois and obtained a master's degree there in 1964. Knowledge of the psychological underpinnings of language, combined with the experience of real–life conversational styles forms the basis of his unique educational method.
Two pronged–approach
Sometimes a native speaker doesn't quite understand the challenges that English speakers face, so it's useful to have a two–pronged approach: one from an English speaker's mindset, and the other from a native speaker's Spanish mindset. Riccardo sets the program, but native speakers deliver the instruction in Spanish. The student benefits from the combination of both points of view.
